Richard L. Armitage: One of a Kind

It turns out, Richard L. Armitage, Colin Powell's former number two man at the State Department is the leaker.
Before the day was over, our friend Richard did what you might expect a former Naval officer to do. He apologized.
"Oh I feel terrible,” he said on CBS News. “Every day, I think I let down the president. I let down the Secretary of State. I let down my department, my family and I also let down Mr. and Mrs. Wilson," he says. When asked if he feels he owes the Wilsons an apology, he says, "I think I've just done it."
Richard L. Armitage is a special man. He has spent almost his entire adult life in the service of the United States. He helped negotiate the handover of U.S. military bases to the Philippines, directed U.S. assistance to the new independent states (NIS) of the former Soviet Union, served as Coordinator for Emergency Humanitarian Assistance.
Armitage was a Special Emissary to Jordan’s King Hussein during the 1991 Gulf war.
In the Pentagon from June 1983 to May 1989, he served as Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs.
He played a leading role in Middle East Security Policies and worked in the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, Iran before the fall of the Shah.
Former Vietnamese naval officers still call him Dai Uy (Navy Lieutenant ) Phu' for his work in the Mekong delta during that war.
Richard isn’t some political hack and he admits he made a mistake and he apologized.
Case closed.
